8 November 2016: Adele Roberts brings her bodybuilding challenge to Bingo

The specialist subject is chosen

Chris films Celebrity Mastermind in Manchester the following day. He will not be told who his competitors are, but he has finally selected a specialist subject and performs extremely well when Scott tests him during the programme.

The subject remains secret, despite listeners offering suggestions ranging from number-one singles to Watford Football Club. Dev is recording an edition on the same day, although neither knows whether they will be placed in direct competition.

Adele prepares to get wet

Adele Roberts joins Innuendo Bingo while making the Radio 1 documentary Muscle in a Month. A former bodybuilding champion, she has returned to the regime for 30 days, eating five meals, drinking four litres of water and training twice daily before a final body scan.

The extra water does not help her composure. Clips cover Petula Clark “tinkling on Elton’s”, Gino D’Acampo pushing food in with his hand, Olympic weightlifting and Penny Marshall describing the Florida election race as incredibly tight. Adele’s increasingly delayed sprays make the game even more dangerous for Chris.

Stupid Street enters the election

A listener discovers that her boyfriend considers Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry” one of his favourite songs. Scott wonders whether a sufficiently terrible musical preference can become a dating deal-breaker, prompting confessions about partners devoted to Glee, George Michael and other supposedly unacceptable choices.

On the eve of the US presidential election, the programme returns to Stupid Street and asks British shoppers whether they will vote for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. Several confidently select a candidate and describe their local polling station before remembering that they are not American citizens and cannot take part.
