Who is looking after Jedward?
Jedward arrive two hours early for a last-minute Innuendo Bingo booking and immediately begin roaming Broadcasting House. Staff members take turns distracting them, security admires their matching boots and Scott receives messages charting their progress from floor to floor. He loves their uniqueness but compares managing the twins’ energy with taking a pet for a walk.
There is a real risk they will burst into Ed Sheeran’s Live Lounge. Instead, Ed finishes his performance and voluntarily wanders into Scott’s studio. He and Jedward have history: chance meetings in Toronto, music conversations, a missed Paul McCartney party and the occasion when Ed gave the twins their first alcoholic drink. Once the three begin talking, Scott and Chris realise they are no longer required.
The Jed-Sheeran show
Ed offers styling advice, Jedward discuss Celebrity Big Brother and everybody talks at once. Scott invites Ed to remain for Bingo but carefully keeps one of the world’s largest pop stars away from the direct line of fire. When Ed finally leaves, the planned game resumes with John and Edward facing the clips at full intensity.
The resulting programme feels less like an interview than an accidental collision of separate bookings. Scott can barely steer it, but the lack of control is the feature: Ed’s genuine affection for Jedward creates a reunion nobody knew had been scheduled.
Rats, relatives and International Prince
Before the studio invasion, Chris reports scratching inside his bedroom wall. He went downstairs in his pants expecting a burglar, found nobody and concluded that a rat is tunnelling through the house. Scott happens to know “Pest Control Fred” through an awards job and offers a professional connection.
Listeners then confess to finding relatives on dating apps. One woman discovers her brother has altered his age, claimed a prestigious university he never attended and posed beside their mum’s car as though it were his. Charlie Sloth joins Real or No Real and claims his middle name is International Prince, even offering identification as proof. A real story about a British man whose middle name is “I Love Spam” and who will marry at Minnesota’s Spam Museum somehow sounds no stranger than the rest of the day.
