8 August 2025: Toyah Willcox, Craig David and Alex Jones

Toyah Willcox

Toyah Willcox joined Scott to discuss music, performance and the continuing energy of her live work.

She reflected on the visual identity of her early career, the freedom of the punk and new-wave period and the pressure placed on women who refused to appear conventional.

Scott asked about songs listeners still connected with the 1980s and the way Toyah continued to reinterpret them on stage.

Craig David

Craig David joined Toyah and Scott for a career-spanning conversation.

He discussed the speed of his breakthrough, the lasting response to Born to Do It and the discipline behind maintaining his voice and live show.

The conversation covered writing, DJing and the way he had rebuilt his relationship with public attention after the intensity of his early success.

Craig’s warmth allowed the interview to move easily between music, fitness and memories of 2000s pop culture.

Alex Jones

Alex Jones completed the guest line-up with television stories and memories from The One Show.

She discussed live broadcasting, family life and the need to recover quickly when an interview or outside broadcast changed direction.

The three guests joined one another in the studio, creating a broad Friday conversation rather than three isolated interviews.

The Wonder Years

The Wonder Years closed Radio 2’s 1980s week with a final run through songs and listener memories from the decade.

8 August 2025: the handover

The handover reflected on a Big Guest Friday spanning Toyah’s 1980s career, Craig David’s 2000s breakthrough and Alex Jones’s live television experience.
