Chris found television that annoyed him perfectly
Chris had become fascinated by Playa in Marbella, a programme following former TOWIE cast member Elliott Wright as he set up a restaurant. He called it terrible, mocked its dramatically overstated voiceover and admitted that he still found it entertaining enough to keep watching. The titles reminded him of Ocean’s Eleven, while routine restaurant activity received the gravity of a criminal epic. Scott correctly observed that the recommendation said plenty about Chris’s existing viewing habits. The pair also reviewed a shopping trip for Chris’s Spanish-wedding outfit, with Scott relieved that he had prevented a disastrous leather-look-trouser experiment.
Julia Hardy returned prepared
Radio 1 gaming expert Julia Hardy returned for a second Innuendo Bingo, this time bringing her own towel and dressing for the soaking before resuming filming afterwards. She discussed an iPlayer programme about virtual reality, including concerts viewed from the best virtual seats and a cooperative Star Trek game. The clips then ranged from Jonathan Agnew’s account of a riding holiday and a couple assessing whether something was “short and fat enough” to a Location, Location, Location visit to an eel-and-pie shop. Julia played exceptionally well, repeatedly catching Chris with water while protecting her hair with a shower cap. Elsewhere, listeners confessed to waking beside unexpected food: Kit found cold rice pudding in his lap, Sam had a melted footlong sandwich under his pillow, and Tom discovered expensive ice cream spread across his room.
Liam’s trousers were the real thing
Alice Levine joined Real or No Real and first rejected the invented claim that Take Me Out was moving its “Isle of Fernando’s” dates from Tenerife to Butlin’s in Skegness. The next fashion fact proved true. Liam Payne had appeared in striking trousers during an American interview and explained that he had borrowed them from Cheryl, whose judgement he trusted. Scott and Chris admired his ability to fit into them and replayed an interview in which his changing accent puzzled them ahead of “Strip That Down”. A final fact also checked out: King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands had secretly co-piloted short-haul KLM passenger flights. Alice’s knowledge of the Dutch royal family suddenly had practical value.
