16 June 2009: David Hasselhoff plays Oh, What’s Hoff-Curring?

David Hasselhoff

David Hasselhoff returned to the programme and was placed directly into Oh, What’s Occurring?

Scott explained that the game required no specialist knowledge: Hasselhoff simply had to hear a situation and guess a number. Hasselhoff nevertheless remained visibly and audibly confused.

The feature was temporarily renamed Oh, What’s Hoff-Curring?

Jimmy Carr’s laugh

The first question came from Jono at Unofficial Mills.

A montage from 8 Out of 10 Cats counted Jimmy Carr’s distinctive laugh. Hasselhoff guessed 13 and Beccy guessed 15.

Carr laughed nine times, making Hasselhoff the closer contestant.

Who recognised Andy Murray?

Ten people on Stupid Street were shown a photograph of Andy Murray.

Wrong suggestions included a surfer, somebody involved in water sports, a frightening version of Simon Cowell and an unidentified man whose name began with “water”.

Only one person correctly recognised the world-number-three tennis player.

Hasselhoff had guessed three and won another point.

The vegetable challenge

Hasselhoff was then given one minute to name vegetables.

His list included lettuce, cucumbers, gherkins, radish, carrots, paprika, squash, eggplant, pumpkin, potatoes, cabbage, corn, spinach and baby corn.

The team rejected tomatoes and avocado as fruit, counted eggplant and aubergine as the same item and disputed several kinds of “salad”.

The accepted total was 11. Beccy’s estimate was closer, but Hasselhoff had already won the game.
