Toby returns to Breakfast
Twelve-year-old critic Toby joins Real or No Real during half-term. He has heard Honey G’s Innuendo Bingo but complains that one of the week’s podcasts failed to appear, prompting Scott to promise that somebody has received a stern word.
Toby’s authority now extends beyond reviewing the afternoon show. He questions the schedule, catches up on missed editions and continues speaking as though he has a permanent production role.
The Music Awards line-up grows
Scott and Chris announce performers for the BBC Music Awards at London’s ExCeL on 12 December. Tinie Tempah and Claudia Winkleman will present, with Zara Larsson, Lukas Graham, Emeli Sandé and The 1975 among the first confirmed acts.
Zara discusses the strange origins of familiar foods before remembering why she is on the phone. Emeli promises a special performance without revealing its surprise, while Matty Healy calls from Winnipeg and admits touring rarely feels as homely as taking his dog to a UK festival.
Professor Green checks the market
Professor Green introduces “One Eye on the Door” and confirms that he is single, although not actively searching and not keen to repeat a relationship lived so publicly. Scott suggests a two-minute experiment in which listeners send him Instagram messages.
The response begins immediately with declarations, photographs, shout-outs and several misunderstandings of the song title. Professor Green reads messages from married admirers, a digger driver and somebody offering a bed, then closes the lines while accepting that his inbox will not obey any official deadline.
