Tom Kerridge’s old suit
Tom Kerridge arrived carrying the made-to-measure tartan suit he had worn on New Year’s Eve in 2012. Having since lost 11 stone, he could now fit Chris inside it beside him and had to hold the trousers up towards his chest.
Tom explained that a low-carbohydrate diet allowed him to continue cooking with protein, butter and fat while abandoning bread, pasta, rice, chips and alcohol. He had lost weight while eating pork scratchings and recommended courgette spaghetti as an alternative to pasta. Giving up beer was difficult for three months, but he learned to treat a sober night like a football match which he would eventually win.
A powerful Bingo return
Tom faced Chris in Innuendo Bingo while still wearing the enormous suit. His distinctive laugh made the round enjoyable before his ability to project water turned it into one of the most forceful games of the month.
Chris knew he had been properly hit when the water soaked through every layer of clothing. Tom’s old trousers later appeared in photographs from the studio, providing a particularly visible measurement of the transformation he had described.
Korean Billy becomes an obsession
Chris introduced videos by Korean Billy, a South Korean creator teaching viewers how to reproduce British regional accents. His lessons included Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle and a London roadman dialect, complete with highly specific local vocabulary.
Billy joined by phone from Seoul and explained that he had studied in Preston for six months. Friends from across northern England introduced him to the accents and expressions which had surprised him on arrival. The videos became unexpectedly popular, while Scott’s enthusiasm grew further when he learned Billy also knew the K-pop artists BigBang and G-Dragon.
