The teenager feuding with 50 Cent
Scott discussed a teenage YouTube user who appeared determined to start a hip-hop feud with 50 Cent.
The boy did not look like a conventional rap rival and seemed to be around 15 or 16. Nevertheless, he posted videos criticising 50 Cent and inviting a response.
Scott remembered briefly entering his own feud with 50 Cent after suggesting the rapper had exaggerated how many times he had been shot. He withdrew the remarks after becoming worried that the dispute mig [...]
Beccy attempts revenge
After Chappers’ computer-support prank, Beccy considered how she could retaliate.
She admitted that she was poor at practical jokes. Even simple attempts to spray her boyfriend with water usually failed because he recognised what she was doing and ducked before she could act.
The team encouraged her to develop a more convincing telephone prank rather than improvising one without preparation.

Two competing Filofaxes
A listener called to compare his previous year’s Filofax with Beccy’s new 2009 edition.
His contained Japan’s National Foundation Day, Abraham Lincoln’s birthday and other dates missing from Beccy’s version. Beccy checked her own pages and tried to establish whether her new organiser was less comprehensive than the outdated one.
Scott quickly became tired of the detailed calendar comparison, while Beccy and the caller proposed swapping information and filling in one anoth [...]
Would you lend a colleague your gym shorts?
A member of the Radio 1 office had forgotten his gym kit and asked colleagues whether anybody would lend him shorts.
Some people did not have spare clothes, while others were unwilling to hand theirs over. The team debated whether borrowing another person’s shorts was unhygienic, even if the wearer kept underwear beneath them.
One proposal was a communal office box containing shorts, jogging bottoms, leotards and other exercise clothes, with staff taki [...]
The anecdotes attached to songs
Scott discussed the stories that members of the team repeated whenever particular records were played.
I See You Baby by Groove Armada always prompted the story that somebody had once met Grandma Funk on a train. Another Groove Armada record reminded Scott of the disputed claim that he had saved Róisín Murphy’s life. House of Pain’s Jump Around came with a story about a Northern Irish club where the ceiling was so low that people hit their heads when they jumped.

The mysterious texter
Most messages sent to Radio 1 asked for songs, greetings or birthday mentions, but the Scott Mills programme had become fascinated by one unidentified regular texter.
The team believed the person might be from Biggleswade, although the messages often referred to Barry, Cardiff and South Wales.
The texts had no consistent story. They jumped between invented or unexplained characters and almost always ended with “Doot” or “Munt”.

Dear Scott
Dear Scott was the programme’s correspondence feature. The Posh Radio 4 Lady read listener emails aloud before Scott, Beccy and Chappers answered them.
Laughing on a bus in Poland
Matthew, a listener in Poland, said he had downloaded the podcast for two years.
While travelling home from school, he laughed aloud at the programme. Three intimidating men in hooded tops believed he was laughing at them.
Matthew tried to explain, but another funny moment played through his headphones and m [...]
Beccy’s Classifieds
In Beccy’s Classifieds, Beccy searched online listings for unusual objects, services and alleged bargains before Scott and Chappers judged whether they were worth pursuing.
Although Beccy was away, she had left a collection of adverts for the programme.
Britney Spears’ mansion
The first listing was not a credit-crunch bargain.
Britney Spears’ Beverly Hills mansion was on sale for just over $7 million after being reduced from almost $8 million.
The six-bedroom, six-bathroom es [...]
Oh, What’s Occurring?
Huw Stephens joined Chappers for a special edition of Oh, What’s Occurring?.
Scott had met Alan Carr and given him three subjects. Alan had to talk for as long as possible without pausing, repeating himself or drifting away from the subject.
Huw and Chappers predicted how long he would last each time.
Star Wars
Alan described Star Wars as a futuristic film whose sets looked as though they had come from IKEA.
He mentioned Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, lightsabres, aliens, C-3 [...]
Oh, What’s Occurring?
In Oh, What’s Occurring?, Scott set up counting games and public challenges before asking Chappers and Scott’s flatmate to predict the result.
Beccy was absent, so the flatmate took her place.
Chris Moyles as Gary Barlow
The first round concerned Chris Moyles’ impression of Gary Barlow.
Scott played a brief example in which Moyles used the same high, vague voice every time he pretended to be the Take That singer. Both contestants agreed that it sounded nothing like Barlow.
