Murray had lost the first set but led 3–2 with a break in the second, while Roger Federer had already beaten Tommy Haas 7–6, 7–5, 6–3 to reach a seventh consecutive Wimbledon final.

Dear Scott was the listener-correspondence feature in which the Posh Radio 4 Lady read messages before the team responded.
A pub worker in Croyde, Devon, reported that David Hasselhoff had almost cleared the area of Brie. Hasselhoff had initially been suspicious of hot cheese but liked deep-fried Brie so much that he ordered repeated portions and bought it for other people in the pub.

Greg James and Glastonbury
Greg James had covered Scott’s programme after attending his first Glastonbury Festival and appeared unable to stop talking about it.
The montage collected references to Lady Gaga, Michael Eavis, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jason Mraz, festival wristbands, red-button highlights and Greg missing the event after it had ended.
Scott also mocked Zane Lowe for presenting a trip to Lake Como to hear new Muse material as a reluctant sacrifice made entirely for Radio 1 listeners. [...]

The archive preserves Radio 1’s coverage after Michael Jackson collapsed at his Los Angeles home and died aged 50.
Kissy Sell Out interrupted the normal programme to say Jackson had suffered a suspected heart attack, had been taken to UCLA Medical Center and had died.
US reporter Jonathan Blake explained that paramedics had tried to resuscitate Jackson before taking him to hospital.

Auditions to play Scott
The team formally opened auditions for the actor who would play Scott in Mills: The Musical.
The show was scheduled for 11, 12 and 13 August at the Pleasance One theatre during the Edinburgh Fringe.
Applicants had to be male, aged 18 or over and available for rehearsals as well as the performances.
They were asked to submit a two-minute video containing singing, acting and an explanation of why they should play Scott.

Beccy concentrated on “missed connections”: adverts written by people trying to find strangers they had briefly seen in public.
One writer described passing a woman near Finchley Central station. She was tall, had long brown hair tied back, wore a black top and dark jeans and had made eye contact with him.
He described himself as the same height, wearing black trousers, a pale blue shirt, carrying a shoulder bag and having a large chest.

Scott had become fascinated by the television series I’m Running Sainsbury’s.
The programme allowed employees with ideas for improving the business to take responsibility for a store or project.
Scott particularly enjoyed a senior manager whose manner, motivational speeches and awkward pauses resembled David Brent.
The manager used corporate phrases, football comparisons and instructions to take a “helicopter view” of problems.

Beccy had quietly used Twitter for some time, but Jono from Unofficial Mills discovered the account and shared it.
Within roughly three hours she gained around 800 followers.
Her phone initially notified her by email every time somebody followed, causing near-constant alerts until she disabled them.
Scott and Chappers were surprised by how quickly the fan site could move an audience onto a personal account.

The programme returned to the unidentified texter believed to live around Biggleswade, although many messages referred to Barry, Cardiff and South Wales.
The texter’s messages contained recurring people including Bloodwyn and ended with the unexplained words “Doot” or “Munt”.
The Posh Radio 4 Lady read the latest batch in her formal voice.
One message celebrated buying a large amount of Stilton for £2.
Another described camping in Snowdonia and surviving largely on beans.
